Last year i went for the medical with ATOS and was put in the WFG,when i went to the jobcentre for the assessment after they took one look at me and said i have been put in the wrong category and i would not have to attend the WFG meetings. My yearly renewal has now arrived and i have to go for another medical,is it worth mentioning what the jobcentre said, will they listen as i know they just robotically stick to there questions. Also can people who have recently been assessed let me know what group they have been put in,have things got better or worse regarding medical outcomes.

Hello
Well didn't you do well! A review after 12 months is not bad going. I was put into the Work Group and my illnesses are such that with one of them, if I fall into the wrong 50% it will lead to a terminal condition - max of 6 months!! So I am doing all the praying that is possible!!
My re-assessment is taking place approx 13 weeks after I was awarded the WG. To make matters worse, I was contacted 5 weeks after the award to arrange the medical with ATOS. The ESA50 wasn't sent out until 4 weeks later. I do wonder how they manage to decide to want me to have another before the ESA50 is issued!
As regards being put into the Support Group, from what I see, you have to be actually terminally ill before that happens - so that is on the bright side!
At the assessment you will be reviewed as you present yourself on the day.
The Decision Maker will decide based on that report and not the 'off the cuff' remark made by someone that isn't qualified to make that judgement.
What do I think? Well it is a far gone conclusion that I will fail the assessment again and have to appeal. That I don't mind, as I would prefer to have somebody that understands my medical conditions to look at my case (ie the doctor at the appeal hearing) than an medically unqualified Decision Maker that considers that the ATOS report is the 'bible' and whatever that report recommends, the DWP will not deviate from it irrespective of what you put or don't put on the ESA50 form.
The fact that they had already made up their minds to want to re-assesses me without the information on the ESA50, I didn't waste my time in filling the form out to any great extent.0 -
I hope you get the decision you warrant, obviously nothing has changed.I didn't appeal last time and should have done.I wasted my time taking medical proof of my inability to work ironically made by ATOS during my claim for my works pension which i received.ATOS said i can no longer do any kind of work and awarded my full works pension. When i mentioned this to them they said it is ATOS who made the decision but a different department,go figure.0

Hello,
Snap!!!!
ATOS did my ill health retirement and reported that in their opinion it was most unlikely that I would ever be able to carry out any type of work in the future. (Nov'09). Had ESA assessment Feb '10, failed 0 points - fully fit for work!!!!
You have to hand it to them0 -

ATOS just sing to the tune of whoever pays them.
The tests are tailored according to the bill payers requirements.[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.
[/greenhighlight][redtitle]
The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that[/redtitle](house of lords debate, talking about Cameron)0 -

My partner passed 3 ESA medicals then scored 5 points on the 4th and failed even though the people who examined him the first 3 times stated in their reports that it would be highly unlikely that he would be able to carry out any type of work in the future. He has Rheumatoid Athritis and it was very progressed when he first got diagnosed ie, a lot of damage to the affected joints. Hes grafted all his life, (manual work) scaffolding, builder etc They said he could do an office job...yeah right! He got dyslexia! ESA is not working for people....0
