My boy's at the vets :(

Just for his pre-planned snip... but gawd I'm going nuts here fretting about anasthetics and the like - and he was so proud of his little doggy assets too :(

Gonna be a looooong day.

Don't worry...the vets know what they are doing and are well practised in this sort of operation. With boys it's one of the less complicated procedures. He'll be as right as rain after a good sleep tonight.

A very routine op for the Vets so don't worry - just try and keep busy and the day will soon pass.

And well done on being a responsible dog owner :T

Big hugs to you but I'm sure he'll be fine. PS. your choice of phrase "going nuts" made me giggle in the circumstances!!!
  • aww don't worry dizziblonde they will look after him and at least he will have you to care for him after the op. Mine's going in on friday and I feel bad about it as they don't know whats going on but at least we are doing the right thing.
When he comes back just carry on as normal and he won't oick up your 'worried vibes' give him a big kiss from his aunty dh when he gets back x

Aww he'll be fine - I expect you're just waiting for the call to go and pick him up about now?

We had our Patterdale snipped back in Sep/Oct time (can't remember exactly when). He was very subdued and groggy when he came home but he was fine. He slept most of that first afternoon and then it was a case of us having to keep him calm and restrict his activity levels for a week or so. The time soon passes :D

  • Completely understand - we had our boy "done" a couple of months ago, his first time under anaesthetic, and I was frantic all day too - but as others have said, it's a very routine op and they recover very quickly.

Apart from being very groggy and whiny (just because he was drowsy and confused, not in pain) the first night he was right as rain the next day and barely noticed that he'd had an op.

When my dog was done the vet said "you'll probably have a nice quiet evening". By the time we had driven home, 10 mins, he was as lively as ever! I hope your dog is ok dizzi.

    Aww, hope doggy is ok.
Milo my 5 month old kitten is snoozing innocently by my side, oblivious to the fact of his forthcoming date with the ball-snatcher in just a few weeks time.
He has such a cute set of furry nadgers, I will be sad to see them go!

Poor chap's back, very subdued, just wants to sleep - not eat or anything... as part of operation no-lick-yer-balls we're going to relent and let him sleep in the bedroom with us tonight (we want him to long term when the dog-cat thing dies down anyway so it's kind of a trial run for that when he's in a "just leave me alone to zzzz" mood)... means we can hear him if he does need anything rather than be in the kitchen and me awake all night ears craned for scratching anyway.
