can i open a bank account at a different address to my ID?

hi there
i am renting out my flat and have all my id and bills still going there (post redirected)
but i want a new bank account set up for where i am now living (lodging locally)
can i do this or will the bank not accept me because of the id not matching up?

    No but you will be able to open the account at the address on your ID then do a change of address immediately it is open to switch it to wherever you want it
  • I just opened an account at Lloyds TSB and none of my ID are at my current address. Can't remember if took in any statements or bills though, but my IDs themselves are not at my current address.

    That sounds strange. Normally the ID always has to match with the address. (otherwise that would be a great one for the fraudster...). Obviously if you've just bought a house then I can see why they'd let you use the new address without further proof of ID, but otherwise I'd have thought you'd need to use the correct address.
    Indecision is the key to flexibility :)
