Paypal asking for further verification

Hi
Just had an email from Paypal asking me to set up bank funding in order to get verified. So I went to the Paypal website (ie not through any links in the email) and it is a genuine request from them. However I am already a verified user, and have been for about 3 years so why do they need this too? I have my bank account linked only to make deposits into, rather than for funding as I'd rather use my credit card.
Should I just ignore this request, or should I do as requested? Which does seem pointless, and will give Paypal more access to cause potential mayhem by having access to my bank account.
Have others had this request?

If you ignore it they will close you account, they need to verify you because of money laundering, ive had the same from PayPal and Nochex when you account reaches a certain limit it automatically asks you to verify you account0

I got this email as well and I think that the above is incorrect. I believe that PayPal are just trying to put in more security measures to offer better seller status for the poster, which they assume will give him/her and their customers more secure transactions.
However, the poster is totally in their rights to ignore the email and carry on as they are. ........as I did!0 -
At work we had 2 accounts and on one they held on to the money, almost £2600 for 180 days. That was to do with money laundering , so they said.
I'm glad it wasnt my money.Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52

I had this earlier this year, it's because you have so much money paid into your paypal account, I think mine was £4000 in the last year so they asked me to verify the account again which I have done and it's fine now, they did say that I could still receive payments and make payments but couldn't take any out and transfer to my bank account.0
