Penrith to Harrogate cheapest way

Hi,

I am wanting to travel from Penrith/Langwathby to Harrogate on Wednesday this week, returning on Friday

Am looking for cheapest bus/train routes

Any help really appreciated

By train, an Anytime Return is £55.80.

Should be able to find an Advance Single from Penrith to Preston for £10 each way.
Anytime Return from Preston to Harrogate (via Burnley) is £22.40.

So total each way could be £42.40 or less.

Sorry don't know about buses/coaches.

What have you found?

What times of day do you want to travel?

If you have a railcard, knock a third off those fares.

Just had a quick look and to add to what wealdroam has said, there's the odd advance ticket Penrith to Preston for £7 and Preston to Penrith for £5.50 if the times of travel are OK for you.

Can't see anything cheaper than a standard return Langwathby to Harrogate via Appleby/Leeds at 20p under £40

EDIT - well a saving of 70p can be made by getting a return Langwathby to Keighley and then singles each way to Harrogate

As to bus, well Penrith - Keswick-Lancaster-Preston-Manchester-Leeds-Harrogate ?? Would take all day and I doubt any cheaper
