Hi Guys.
Just out of curiosity as I'm on process of telling search-engines about my web-site.
What is the one you normally use? For myself I'm a Google fan.

I just took a look at this months stats from my own sites. They all get most of their traffic from google. Lowest being 75% from google and the highest shows 90%. It's been similar for years.0

I briefly used HotBot until AltaVista came out, and stuck with them for quite a while. They had great Boolean operator and nested brackets support - you could search for ((turnips and swedes) or "brussels sprouts") and not (cucumber or (lettuce and tomato)), which would never have been interpreted correctly by Google. Yahoo was good as a second option because it used to be a directory (compiled by humans), rather than a search engine.
When Google came out I discovered it permitted far less sophisticated searches, yet the top 10 or 20 results were more relevant (I guess they favoured websites that were heavily linked to, and relied less on page content).
Anyway, I've stuck with Google, (and I think AltaVista and Yahoo now use Google anyway) but am always on the lookout for something better... I hate the new search that updates the page with every keypress (when I enable scripting)...
I also hate the fact that Google is so ubiquitous. It's a scary thought to think that a huge proportion of people would never find a website if Google decided to "make it not exist"... Freedom and democracy require choice and competition...0 -

Altavista was great until it became a portal with a really complicated front page. After that I've used Google ever since.0
