Need some help with freesat.....basically can't receive free view signal because of the surrounding houses, so was thinking of freesat. I was also considering trying to get a recording freesat box, although they do seem quite expensive, and I don't really need hd signal.
I was looking at the Sky freesat, and the possibility of the sky+ service, but wondering if you still need to pay the £10 for this?
Can anyone suggest what combination is the cheapest for the freesat service with recording function?:o

Have you got a sky dish on the house already ? If so I suggest a Humax HDR (Mind you not cheap mine was £239 but it is very good)
If not then about £50 for a dish and lnb + fitting .... but no ongoing costs.

If you cannot get freeview due to surrounding houses then they will certainly (almost) stop line of sight to the satellites????4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . No I don't have a dish yet.... Sorry should've mentioned this.
Do you think sky would do a free install deal if went with their sky +DFW'ers photography comp member no. 60 -
If you can get any free installation deal out of SKy, they will always want you to sign up for a year at least probably on a basic package minimum. If you want to use the Sky + service to record, then you have to pay a monthly fee for that too.
Signal reception of Freeview which is via your aerial has absolutely nothing to do with Freesat reception from satellite. As long as you have line of sight to the satellite, Freesat will work. You could consider installing your own satellite dish if you have DIY skills with the assistance of a cheap signal level meter. It may take you a while but you only need to do it once.0 -

See if you can track down a ross hd sat kit from b&q - were £79- see some on ebay. The black dish sets were best - hd and record to usb, good sd pic too.0

You say you can't get freeview because of surrounding houses, have you tried a longer aerial pole? One other silly question, have you got a digital aerial? If your near neighbours can get freeview then you should be able to.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
