Hiring a bus/coach from church to reception?

Options
My reception is going to be quite far from the church we are getting married in, so we were thinking about the possibility of hiring a bus/coach or something for the guests. A large number of guests will not be local and so we are thinking it might be difficult for people to find their way if they are driving.
Has anyone done anything similar and any tips? I've had a quick look online, and got some quotes for around £400 for a 50 seater bus....can it be done cheaper?? :j

Yes it can...whereabouts are you? I'm in Cheshire and having a coach doing a 25 mile journey. They'll be leaving my town around 10am to go to the zoo, coming back about 5.30pm and I'm paying £290.
  • I'm doing the same, its costing £460.
  • My friend did it. One of the guests was sick on the bus and my friend lost her deposit and had to pay a cleaning charge :-(

The only thing to think about is if your guests drive to the church, then get on the bus, their cars are left behind!
I considered it, but decided most people have satnavs, and Dad's gonna do a little map for everyone on the computer, which I will put in the invitations and hopefully leave some at the back of the church in case people forget their copy!

We're doing coach 2-way. It'll pick up and drop off in the town where the evening do is, which is where overnight guests will stay. So no cars at all...they'll walk or taxi the short distance from after the reception to their hotels. I have also put details of directions to both the zoo and the evening do on my wedding website so nobody's got any excuse to get lost!

We're having a (vintage 1950's) coach as well - it will pick up at the hotel where the reception is and take people to church, then come collect me and bridesmaids etc and take us to church, then after the ceremony take people back from church to hotel. It's costing approx £300.

    Hi,
I'm doing it but the venue is only a mile from the church. Its 250 for an 8 seater and they will do a pick up from a local hotel to church, church to venue and venue back to hotel around midnight.

Def shop around for some quotes.
