Hi Folks
Please forgive me if I am posting this query on the wrong forum
I have got pictures of my kids when they were babies to infant age. I keep them in a couple of albums, but of course the albums can very easily be mislaid (or stolen), and I have not got any other copies of these photos.
Can you please advice where I could keep a copy of these photos so that they are near enough 100% safe?
Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi globetraveller
Many thanks for your speedy reply. I hate to say this, but, what if the photos get stolen during a burglary?
Thanks0 -
You're going to need to split your risk.
Get electronic versions (scans) of these pictures and find some secure cyberspace storage for them - you'll need to pay for this.
No photosharing website is guaranteed to be there in 10/20/50 years time so don't rely on them. Paying for your own web storage is also subject to that proviso, but it's slightly more reliable than a third party website.
Get hard copies of the photos and store them between leaves of acid free paper. If they're *very* valuable, or you're *very* paranoid, get several copies.
Store one set of copies in a fireproof box at your house. Repeat with other boxes at your parents', a good friend's and (if terribly paranoid) at your bank.
Keep electronic copies of the pictures on CD/DVD - in seperate fireproof boxes if you think it's necessary.
That's about all you can do.
Oh....and for goodness' sake - make sure you have copies displayed around the place to enjoy - that's what they're for

I'd second scanning them in, and then keeping a couple (or more) copies of the discs in various places!0

I've got mine on a portable hard drive in a fire proof safe. Hopefully that'll keep them safe.0

we have them all on pc , plus loads in albums, hubby has backed them up on external hard drive, plus every couple of months he up dates a rewritable cd with all our photos on from our wedding in 2002 up to presnet. and also our inlaws have a copy of them all at their house.
bit much, but there so many memories there i dread loosing them. but if we had a fire as long as we all get out safe thats most important.0
