Insurance - British Standard 3621

Hi,

I'm currently looking at renewing my home insurance and need to know if my current locks meet British Standard 3621?

My doors are PVC doors and were fitted around 5 years ago. They do not as far as I can see have a British Standard kitemark on them but they do say the locks are 'Winkhaus STV-F 1660'. I have searched Google and came across a couple of mentions of these meeting some European Standard EN 1303:2005 but would like to know if there is some website where I can check to see if they meet BS 3621?

Any help would be appreciated as I always assumed they did but would really like to know for sure.

Don't know whether these locks will meet with 3621.

Think there is a different standard for multi point locks fitted to UPVC doors.

If you speak to your Insurers they will advise you of the position. It is better to get it from the horses mouth, rather than takes somebody elses word for it and then have a problem following a claim.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

talk to the insurer as others have suggested. You are probably down as having mortice deadlocks or something similar rather than multipoint locking system which UVC doors come with.
  • Thanks - phoned up insurer and they said as doors were PVC and multipoint and lock when lift handle they would meet their criteria so just renewed.

Seems a bit confusing when online says they have to meet BS3621 and person I spoke to sounded pretty uninterested and seemed to just agree with whatever I said so I would renew.
