Have you made any changes recently?
Click start, control panel, sound, then click the sounds tab, left click anything in the list, the play arrow should light, click that, do you get any sound?
On the playback tab, does it say anything is or isn't working properly?0 -
First you need to identify what sound card you have.
download and run SIW from here http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html (get the free standalone / no installer one)
select sound devices from the left hand side and copy the displayed info to here, should be able to help you from there.
secondly... is it a pc or laptop?Information is provided as a guide only. Please do not assume that all information is 100% accurate. Information used is done so at the risk of the reader.

Download the audio driver from Dell, there are four, yours are in the bottom two

It is unlikely to install if you try to load the wrong one0 -

so are you saying that I should try both the bottom two and see which one works? Sorry for being thick“The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.” Eckhart Tolle0 -
Best thing you can do is enter the dell service tag on their website, it may well narrow it down for you... however.
If i had to hazzard a guess id go for the one dated 2008 as the others seem to be specific but try the 2008 one first... if you still dont have any joy give the second one a whirl.. really cant hurt to try them both

If you go to the Dell Site, home user, technical support, it has a download drivers section, it will also find your service tag for you. It is fairly easy to just follow what they say when you get to the right section. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
