Cheers Katyag! I have a couple of bottles each of the Johnsons bedtime bath, shampoo and I think lotion so I'll leave it at that. They are mostly ones I got super cheap thanks to baby club coupons.

For the nappies I've been told not to buy too many more 1 or 2 until I know size of my baby so I'm holding back but friends reckon their children were in size 3 for a while so no trouble to stock up there.

Re the wipes my DH commented the other day I have enough *rofl* I think he thought you use one per nappy change ;) I will keep stocking up on the sly I think!

All the best for Number three!

Thanks for the heads up! First little one due in April so I'm stocking up.

DH thinks I have enough wipes - around 16 packs lol (I get them whenever I see them around a £1 or using freebie coupons etc from baby clubs).

Nappywise I have three small packs of size 1, two small packs of size 2 and so I'm going to start buying size 3.

Any advice from parents re how much I need shampoo, lotions, oils wise and any other things I might have forgot to get mucha ppreciated!!

Congratulations! you can never have too many wipes!! I stock up on wipes on the sainsburys offers and stack them under the cots! As for shampoo etc, we made the mistake of buying all sorts of stuff and have never used baby oil, and the johnsons shampoo we bought stung little one's eyes (even though it was no tears!) - so we have stuck with Johnsons top to toe (this always sells out quick on the sainsbury's offers) which is what they used at the baby bathing demo at hospital when I had my first. Now that they're a bit bigger we use the johnsons bedtime bath for bubbles which smells lovely. hth and good luck!:)

I guess since Ive had 2 already and both were practically the same weight I know how much I can get away with. In early days one pack of new nappies can last 2-3 days and thats it!!!

Wipes, one per change???? No chance! lol Our 3 year old is only in nappies for nap times and we still use loads, face, hands, bum and bits when taking off the only nappy of the day!

Don't worry Katy - I set him straight lol! DH hasn't much experience around babies bless him - I think he has a shock coming but he'll catch on fast :D

Yes I do think we only have enough size ones for about 6 days or so but not too worried as I can always get more if they are the right size.

Ta for the info bubs, I will not worry too much and just file the johnsons stuff away until LO is a little older then :)

  • Our 'babies' are now adult men but we still find use for baby wipes. Have Sainsburys stopped selling Basics Baby Wipes? I can't find them on their web site even though we got some delivered in our order just before Xmas (they were an unbelievable 18p for 80 so maybe they were being sold as being discontinued?) Have to say I was looking forward to seeing them for 12p on Thursday. :D

I am also expecting baby number 3 and I just wanted to throw in my 2p's worth! I found that my babies outgrew size 1 nappies really fast and was left with a lot of surplus so I would really hold back on stocking up too much on sizes 1 and 2. Like your friends, I also stuck at size 3 for ages so these are the best buy in my experience for pre-emptive spends.

Just for reference, my babies were 7lb 2oz and 7lb 11oz at birth, so fairly average!

I absolutely agree about the baby bathing items.. they last forever and a day so be careful not to double up and see what items have a multi purpose. Baby lotion works just as well for a baby massage as baby oil etc etc. Nappy cream such as Sudocrem or Bepanthen are essential as there can be a few exploding nappies and frequent changes in the first week so baby can get a bit sore.

  • Thanks for the heads-up re Sainsburys event, I really like their baby bath, it smells lovely (nicer than Johnsons) and doesn't irritate my little one's skin.

Re wipes, you really can never have too many! Nappies I used size 1 for about a month, size 2 for about a month and then size 3 for about the next 6 months so get plenty of them!
For shampoo, I recommend Avon Kids watermelon shampoo, one bottle has lasted us all year (hair wash every day) and it's brilliant.
  • Ooooppsss,
I Really do have lots of stuff ready for 1st baby due early March.
I have about 15 packs of size 1, 20 of size two and about 10 packs of size 3!!! lmao

I have about 40 - 50 packs of wipes too!!! lol

Ah well, rather too much than not enough!!
Got a little carried away, took us well over 8 years to conceive so had been waiting a while to start shopping.

Good luck thoughts would be appreciated for Tuesday, having a specialist cardiac scan on baby as heart irregularities were noticed last midwife appointment. :o(

Good Luck all you expectant parents xxx
I love bargains but freebies are better!! ;-)

I agree with posts above. We've not used much shampoo, baby bath or baby wash at all. Don't bother with talc as they tell you not to use anymore so have about 3 cartons not even open yet. Sudocrem is also great to buy as it's also 1/3 off. Baby wipes & nappies- I had tons, my husband thought they'd last a year oh how he was wrong. I think it was around 8 changes a day at the beginning as she always decided to have a poo just after I'd changed her. Stock up on the cotton wool- you use that for cleaning their bum at first, now I still use cotton wool for washing her face. I used a few packs of no 1's and about 10 packs of no 2, she was 7lb 8 born but didn't put on loads of weight. No 3's last them until I think it's 19lb in weight. We've been in no 4's for around 2 months and she's 15 months now so every child is different but don't think 1 pack of each will last!

Also if your child is fussy like mine was, sainsburys do 1/3 off jars and food aswell which asda doesn't so I saved a fortune especially with the coupons from their little ones club (which is worth joining).

Hope this helps a little and if you have any other queries then please feel free to ask- I'll help or someone else will as it's hard to know what to do when you're awaiting your 1st baby.

Good luck ding_dong, I'm sure everything will be fine. Don't worry about the nappy situation, you will probably use them all. We used all our supply!
