Insurance payout too low for friend

When did she buy the car?0

Cat c is more serious than cat d. Maybe not such a good idea to buy it back unless she or whoevers repairing it really knows what they're doing. She'll never ever sell it on though, having been written off TWICE!poor_student1234 wrote: »Yeah but they have put the car on a cat c now.0 -
Sometimes a Cat C car is very easy to put back on the road, especially when using used or recycled parts.
The only extra thing to do is have a VIC (Vehicle Identity Check) done at a VOSA centre before the car can be put back on the road.
If the car was a Cat D, but repaired then it is probably slighty more damaged this time, but it is all down to how much damage has been done to the car in this accident.
I would still try and argue the point that £4500 was paid for the car, and the valuation of £4400 already reflects the Cat D price, as a non recorded car would be say £5500 or so the OP's friend feels that £5500-25% is fair. So they will settle for £4125.
Though sadly every Insurance company hides behind the "market value" loophole.
They came unstuck when my Subaru was stolen as there were only 3 registered in my spec (auto) in that year, mine was also low miles, the book valued it at £6000, the only ones on the open market where low miles and they had to pay out nearly £8000, as I wanted "market value" not "book valuation guide price".
In all fairness Admiral where very fair and paid out within a month of the theft.0
