Help please re LNB out

Hi.

Ive got a Humax hd pvr in one room successfully cabled to a tv.

On the rear of the Humax in addition to two LNB in ports there is an additional port marked LNB out.

I've read the Humax manual and I've nearly got me head round it, regarding the LNB out.

Questions are, can I run a cable from the Humax LNB out to another room nearby where I want to put my old Pace sd box and tele.

I did'nt want to have to go from the LNB on the dish and then have to throw the cable over the roof of the house to get to the Pace box.

Im hoping to put the cable from the Humax to the LNB in on the Pace box and view separate channels at the same time relying on the one dish?.

Has anyone out there achieved the above, being able to view separate channels in each room without loss of picture quality.

Thanks in anticipation. Regards Allen.

My docs say you can feed another sat box from it but....

It has to be a continuation of one of the two input leads and the way an LNB is controlled is by the set top box providing a voltage to it up the coax so I can't see any way that the second STB can have full control over it.

The manual does mention that if you loop through it to your second input there will be limitations over what can be recorded and watched together. That tells me that the second STB would not have all channels available to it and what was available would depend on what the first box is tuned to.

I do this on 2 freesat boxes.
You can only watch channels which are on the same lnb feed (one of 4)
There is vertical and horizontal polarisation and high and low band (above or below 11.7mhz).
If watching / recording ITV1 HD 10.832mhz H, I can also watch BBC1 North West on 10.803mhz H (Both Horizontal polarisation and both low band - below 11.7mhz.
The frequencies and polarisations are available here - http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html
If you run a cable from the dish (and theres a spare output) you can watch any channel on both boxes.
  • Hi.

Thanks to both of you for your help. I think I'll run an extra cable from the LNB to the Pace box.

I'm not keen on throwing the cable over the roof so I'm going to route it through one internal wall and into the kitchen at the back.

Thanks again. Questions succesfully answered. Regards. Allen.

Hi , there used to be a humax forum but it has disappearead, however they are trying to load up a new one at https://www.hummy.tv a bit low on content at the mo. How are you planning to get the cable from the lnb out to the pace ? via internal wall. There is a post there about recording two channels and watching a third as here but that may be not what you need via the "out" connector , as far as I can tell the out connector is for single feed in and passing over the signal to the second in connector (which may help if you use one lnb cable in and then from out to the second in from the hummy and then put the other lnb cable staight in to the pace. Hope that helps

    Hi.

Thanks for the info. No major probs on the recording side as the Humax is quite good at it.

As regards the Pace box I'm going to run an extra cable from LNB at front of building, drill through external wall and then run cable round front room, drill through one external wall into kitchen/diner to where the Pace box and second tele is.

    Thanks and regards. Allen.
