Credit File - Default?

Hi

A question. I am applying for a new job and part of the vetting process is to see if I have and CCJ's (No), Bankrupt (No) or any Defaults (Not Sure!) - I have told the potential new employer that have have some late payments in the past year. They still wanted to proceed with the job application as they say its possible no Defaults have been recorded. I have checked with experian and I really cannot see anything obvious apart from the late payments being flagged. Am I right in thinking, if its not on my experien file then I Don’t have any?

Any advice gratefully received

That's right, if you don't see them on your credit file, they aren't there.

You would know if you had any defaults anyway as you'd have been posted a default notice and had the account in question referred to a DCA.

From the sounds of things you'll be fine. Good luck with your job app!

Be sure to check the other two credit reference agencies though, just to make sure.

    Callcredit

Best of luck with your job application.

  • Checked with CreditCall - all ok. :-) Thankyou
  • Remember late payments are not the same as defaults - defaults are issued once you have gone months without making any payments (I think either 6 or 8 months on the run)....
