Booking holiday/insurance query

Hoping someone can advise! I currently have annual travel insurance, valid till 1st March. I want to book a trip to Turkey, travelling in May. If I book just now will I be covered for anything that might go wrong (booking flight + hotel, NOT package) and I can then renew my insurance at the end of February or would I be better renewing now - BEFORE I book the trip?

as far as i am aware, annual policies work in different ways, so may be best to check with the insurance direct. You may be worth while checking to see if they will cover 'seperate' elements as a package too, and if (for example) your flights get cancelled by the airline if they will cover your accommodation too.

You should be covered for anything that happens between now and the renewal date on the current policy, and for anything that happens after that on the new one.

Slight risk is that something happens between now and the renewal date that doesn't warrant immediate cancellation but means you can't get a new policy on the terms you want. Something like a new pre-existing condition.
