Hi,
I have Windows 7 and Avira on my laptop.
I often transfer files from my PC using a flashdrive. Please advise how do I turn off the Avira Guard which is preventing autorun?
Many Thanks, Bob.

Thanks for your very quick response.
Please be advised I don't want to switch Avira anti virus off just disable the feature which is preventing auto run.
It saysAccess to the file "E;\aUTOrUn.inf was blocked for your security. Additional information on this is available in the help.
I have searched but cannot find how to configure Avira to allow autorun when I insert a device such as a flashdrive, camera, SD card and CD.
Please note autorun works on my PC where I have windows Vista and Avira :T"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Your sure its Avira thats blocking autorun?
Ive never had that problem, and if it IS blocking it then its probably blocking it for a reason (ie, malware infection):idea:0 -
I shall do a scan of the flash drive then complete scan of the system."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
Just a side note, doesn't Win7 block autorun anyway?
Is it this:

From what I can tell (don't use Avira) it is on by default.-Scott-

Many thanks,
Problem solvedYou can go to Avira's configuration > tick Expert Mode > Guard > Scan > Further actions > untick the "Block autostart function" option, click Apply.
NB: When this option is enabled, the execution of the Windows Autostart function is blocked on all connected drives, including USB sticks, CD and DVD drives and network drives. With the Windows Autostart function, files on data media or network drives are read immediately on loading or connection, and files can therefore be started and copied automatically. This functionality however carries with it a high security risk, as malware and unwanted programs can be installed with the automatic start. The Autostart function is especially critical for USB sticks as data on a stick can be changed at any time."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
