Welcome to MSE - what are the balances on the debts?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0

renault has around £5,000 outstanding but can change the car or hand it back in may
Halifax has around £1100
skycard has around £1500
the citicard has about £100 left on it
his overdraft (thanks to the ex) has £1000 (rough idea, he wont tell me exact figures)
his loan i reckon over £700 (again he wont give exact figures)
So my rough estimate is around £90000 -
Do you get your contact lenses online? If not, its much cheaper. Mine work out at £5 per month. Try vision direct or any of the others. It all adds up.0

I tried but i have a really high prescription, they are cheaper than what they used to be though, my first pair were £266.00.0

Oh dear this is not good. You both need to be honest with each other so that you can work together to clear this debt. If you do not know the true extent of the debts then it will make it that much harder to tackle them.
You OH is currently overspending by approximately £50 per month. Is there anyway he can get any extra money coming in? Working in the evening or at weekends/get a better paying job?
Have you considered contacting CCCS or payplan? They are debt help charities...

Can you overpay the Citicard debt instead of overpaying on the 0% debts until it has gone?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
hi lauren
welcome
can you give breakdown of utilities - you might be able to save by switching suppliers - energyhelpline or uswitch. if you go via the link from this site you will get cash back for gas and electricity each.
bt - is this for calling landline - martin has written an article about 1899/18185 companies which allow you to make cheaper calls without changing your number
might be helpful to do a spend diary - record all your spending and then you will know where the money is going
can you cut down the food budget - see the Old style board for recipes/menuplans. some people manage to feed a family on <£60 per month
there will be others along who will give you more suggestions
good luckTH0 -
I have tried to coax it out of him, i found out a bout the loan 3 weeks after having our son to add insult to injury its not even his blinking loan or overdraft he needs the words MUG tattooed on his forehead, he has a set dd for each and cant make overpayments apparently for each as they are all frozen and that was his offer to the creditors.0
-
The bt landline is just for incoming calls, we are on virgin so it costs us 3p to text (last time i bothered to text his was last week), he rings me on his works phone if he needs to talk to me and same for me if i am at work, the rst of the time i use msn to talk to family and friends.0

Sorry - did I catch that right - the loan & overdraft are NOT in his name?"Debt makes plans for you" - A quote from my friend Catherine. How true!0 -
