You can also get slightly different info. (no. of previous owners and the make/model), also you don't need the car make from http://www.rac.co.uk/web/vehiclechecks/dvla_lookup/0

Interesting.
A previous car I had was involved in a police incident. I had a phone call to make sure I was not still the legal owner and to ask who I had sold it onto (a garage). Fortunatley I had kept all the paperwork, letters from the DVLA because it was over 2 years ago. Then I had a phone call from a scrap man who had collected the car for the police. They would not accept my confirmation over the phone soI had to write them a letter with a photocopy of my DVLA letters.
Very annoying as you can imagine. Especailly as the police had been in touch with the DVLA before thye rang me and the scrap man had taked to the police before he rang me. Never got to find out exactly what had gone on.

Hmm, i've just done it on a car parked outside my flat (99% sure its stolen & dumped as its been sat in the same spot for over a week) and it coes up with
Vehicle details could not be found
As it has not been possible to locate the vehicle detailsLurker extraordinaire :cool:0 -

Yes, that is exactly what it means.0 -
date of liability means either when the tax is due or when the vehicle was sorn off road0
