For reasons beyond my comprehension, VLC Player is playing up, would not let me view .mkv files and when propmpted to upgrade fro VLC 1.1.2 to 1.1.5, installation cannot progress for reasons I cannot understand.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Mine was working OK this afternoon, though I'm at work just now so can't tell you what version I'm running.
Have you tried a full uninstall and then install of the newer version rather than just going the upgrade path?Dave. :wave:0 -
Not happened for me. When vlc has played up ,very rarely, a pc restart is usually required. Using 1.1.4
I'd uninstall it ,run a reg cleaner, eg ccleaner's registry scan for issues, and reinstall.0 -
ive always had problems when upgrading VLC using their own software, just uninstall the old one or just run the latest download from their site and it will prompt you to uninstall the old version automatically.0

I'm on 1.1.4 and it is a bit crash happy, didn't know there was an updateNothing to see here, move along.0

i used to go to watch a film and it would come up and say that there was an update, i would usually forget about it and use divx player/wmp or something similar and end up watching the film to find vlc has failed to update, resulting in me closing the program and forgetting about it lol.
until recently when every other media player on my laptop failed to play a 3gp file i had no choice but to download the update0 -
I have found GOM player to be very good and have never used VLC. Perhaps give GOM player a try? GOMlab.com - Play Any Video File, Any Time! The Best Media Player!0

Having just checked, I'm on 1.1.5. Can't say it's ever crashed on me, though I only watch .avi or .mkv.Dave. :wave:0
