You could claim reduced IS if you failed a IB medical but you will be having a ESA medical which dosnt allow failed claimants to claim reduced IS but assessment rate ESA of @£65 pw.0 -

Thankyou for the info.
I'm on Incapacity Benefit and not ESA at the moment, but will be migrated over at some stage in the next few months.
Just to clarify then if I fail my IB medical I cannot claim income support at reduced rate any longer or did I read that wrong?0 -
£52.36 per week is reduced rate IS for a single person appealing an IB medical decision.0

But is that whats paid to a IB claimant that fails the WCA for ESA?
Or is it £65 pw that is currently paid to WCA failures?0 -
An IB claimant doesn't fail the WCA for ESA, because they don't have the WCA for ESA. They have the PCA for IB. If an IB claimant fails the PCA for IB, they can only claim the rediced rate of IS pending an appeal outcome which is £52.36 per week - they can't claim the assessment rate of ESA unless they make a claim to ESA. Only an ESA claimant will sit a WCA and only an ESA claimant can receive the ESA assessment rate of £65.45 per week pending an appeal against insufficient points awarded following a WCA. This person is claiming IB, not ESA.
If you mean when IB claimants transfer to ESA, it will then be an ESA claim and the IB claimant will become an ESA claimant, thus will be able to claim the ESA rate pending appeal.0 -

Thankyou for the clarification.:)0
