Is my pay right?

Slightly off topic - but not too far off, and for future reference... Assuming that all or some of the 9 and a half days leave are part of the statutory entitlement of 28 days, the employer is acting unlawfully in paying you for them unless there are some very specific reasons why they couldn't be taken (such as the fact that you are on long term sick or maternity leave). This may be the case but you didn't mention it, and it is worth noting so that you and others reading this don't get the mistaken impression that there is a general right to be paid for untaken holidays. The law specifically prevents employers from generally paying for holiday to prevent them from denying workers their legal holiday entitlements.

I can see where you are coming from but at 22 years old Ive got no commitments apart from work, I struggled to use my 25 days last year, in fact I was quite bored at home for the week before and after Xmas! Would much rather have worked them and be paid for them. Im now in the dilemma that because I struggled to use 20 Ive taken 5 over to this year meaning Ive now got 30 days to use.....

Do you get 25 plus the 8 bank holidays? If so you are fine to be paid in lieu of anything over the statutory minimum ie 10 for this year if you have 38 days rather than 28 (including BH's)

    Alternatives to sitting at home:

1 - Register with a temp agency and see if you can find work to do elsewhere instead. Perhaps school holiday/half term weeks might be good when some parents drop out of availability.

2 - Volunteer to help a charity during your holiday.

its doesn't matter 1 iota if you are bored while off work, it is illegal for an employer to buy back any of your 28 days minimum entitlement.
