hi me and my boyfriend ( both mid twenties) are off to london for the weekend for my birthday and have tralled the internet for different restaurants but its hard when you dont know the area.
we are looking for quality over anything. we would love a good rustic restaurant and price is not an issue .
BUT we dont fancy somewhere like the ritz/ selfridges restaurant/.savoy etc as we arent really the 'dress up' type.
hope someone can reccomend a local gem
we are happy to travel around as we will have all zone travelcard but central london (zones 1-2 ) would be easiest
thanks to all xx:j
pls move if this would get better results in uk travel?

I love eating out in London and here are some places I like to go to. Prices are average to around £100 for two without wine, so that gives you an idea of the cost. The places are nice and fancy, good service, but its not neccessary that you "dress-up", but also, you wont get kicked out if you were in jeans either (okay, scruffy dirty holey jeans with your bum hanging out may be a different matter, but jeans a nice top/ shirt is good
)

Not a big list, but thats all I can think of at the moment.
Have a look at Totable.com for some suggestions.
Places I'm still waiting for BF to find some time to take me to are:
Skylon - great romantic views over the Southbank/ Big Ben etc
Roast - Borough Market, apprently best for meat lovers
Pattersons
Hope that helps, enjoy your weekend.

Would also recommend Quaglinos.
If money really is no object then would recommend Hakassan http://w3.hakkasan.com/# -have been to the Hanway Place one. It doesn't look great from the outside as it's in a back street at the junction of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Strees, but you go down loads of steps to the restaurant which is lovely. Expensive though.
For French cuisine would also recommend Le Cafe du Marche http://www.cafedumarche.co.uk/
There are some special offers for restaurants here http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/esrewards/advertorials/dine.do but I don't know if you can use them at weekends.0
