Virgin media switching to sky talk

Hi

I am switching from virgin cable phone and bb to a sky telephone line for phone rental, talk and broadband.
question is, will the engineer need to physically put new phone lines and boxes in indoors? I have just had new carpets laid and don't want to rip them up for new phone cables!

Any advice please?
Thanks in advance

If you do not have any BT sockets in your home, then yes, a BT Openreach engineer will need to visit.Virgin's services do not go anywhere near the BT telephone exchange so if you don't have a BT landline installed, you will have to get one.
Also BT cannot use the cabling or phone sockets installed by VM due to regulations. (but that wont stop them anyway)

Phone cabling is normally stapled to the top of the skirting boards & the sockets mounted on the wall.

Thanks for that. I was hoping maybe the existing phone cable could be used somehow as that is now nicely buried under the floor boards - no unsightly cabling around the skirting! Now it seems I will have to have that cabling round the skirting boards :(

The reason it's not put under skirting, flooring or carpet is because if the cable gets damaged then it's easier to replace.I've been to loads of faults where the cable has been damaged that way.

What BB speed do you hope to get?
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark
