Replacing a provisional licence?

Please feel free to move this if necessary. I have had a provisional licence for quite a few years now and also don't have any form of picture ID. I was thinking of replacing it with a new one. MY question is will it still have an indefinite date on it like my paper one does and how much does it cost? I am thinking that this might be a cheaper option than the expense of a passport from an ID point of view seeing as I have no wish to go abroad at all.

The new photo card driving licence will last for 10 years. Regardless of it being full or provisional.
The photo has to be renewed every 10 years.
