Road Tax still not arrived
I'm in a panic at the moment as I renewed by road tax online on 12th Dec but it still hasnt arrived by post. Its expired on 31st Dec.
When I call the DVLA just after xmas, they said wait till around Jan 4th as there may be delays in the post. It still didnt arrive at that date so I called again on the 4th Jan and they re-posted another one and told me to expect it in 3-4 working days. I called them again today and they suggest to wait till Monday 10th and if it hasnt arrived then they will organise it to be delivered to the nearest DVLA office.
The problem is that my nearest office is 10 miles away and I will not get the time to travel there during the week. The DVLA has advised that failure to display the renewed disc by the 11th Dec may be a offence.
What do I do?? This is no fault of mine!

That's not good. Wait till Monday hopefully it'll come in the post then. Then Tuesday wait again. I suppose probably a good idea to make sure car is off road. If it is taxed and insured the police won't pull you over so if you are going work then park in in a private car park and at home park it on the drive. Do print the receipt from the internet out and keep it with you. If you are unfortunate enough to be pulled for a minor offence then the police will mention it so produce that receipt to them and say you've been in contact and it is in the mail but delayed. Good luck on the post arriving on Monday.I'm in a panic at the moment as I renewed by road tax online on 12th Dec but it still hasnt arrived by post. Its expired on 31st Dec.

I'd print out the receipt and stick it in the windscreen just in case your car is seen by one of the few traffic wardens that aren't vindictive jobsworths.0

Check online to see that it actually shows as being taxed. Problem is if its spotted on the road and no disc is displayed there
is a risk it will be towed.
It should have arrived by now though, Should have got them to send a replacement.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
A second one was posted out on the 4th.forgotmyname wrote: »Should have got them to send a replacement.
Are you sure that the address on the V5 is correct? It seems strange that 2 have apparently gone missing. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Don't think they could tow them all, there's so many not arrived this month.0 -

I dont have a drive or a garage and park on the street. It appears like I will have to display the receipt on the windscreen and hope it doesnt get towed away.
Ive learnt my lesson now and wont be ordering it through the post

You are allowed to use the car for a set number of days after the old one expired when you buy it online, I did my wifes roadtax online, but I can't remember how long you had, it was written on the renewal letter I think, I don't think it was long though.0

I think its only 5 days, providing you've ordered the new disc before the old one has expired. E.g. order 31st Dec, wait for it to arrive, that's fine, order 1st Jan, that's not ok. Which isn't very helpful here. You are allowed to use the car for a set number of days after the old one expired when you buy it online, I did my wifes roadtax online, but I can't remember how long you had, it was written on the renewal letter I think, I don't think it was long though.0 -
is it not 'working days?'No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
