I am in need of a replacement CPU unit, wondered if somebody could help me find one.
I have AMD Athlon 64 processor 3700+ 2020 GHz with 3gb ram but i remember reading that you have to be careful about which brand to buy.
Can anybody recommend a decent one but cheapest possible please.
If any more info needed please let me know

Which socket is it? 939 or 754??
If you download a programme called CPUz that shoud tell you the socket of the processor after which ebay should turn up plenty of these although they will be used as that processor is nearly 6 years old.
Theres only one brand you can actually buy and thats AMD0 -
If the processor's 2.2Ghz it'll be socket 939, socket 754 3700+ processors run at 2.4Ghz, it can be replaced by any socket 939 processor, an Athlon X2 4200+ or X2 4600+ would be a good upgrade.
That's asuming you mean replacing the cpu, i have a feeling you might mean replacing the base unit of the computer (the big box that everything plugs into) which is entirely different.0 -

As above, you'd need to replace the CPU with an AMD model with the same pin architecture. If your current CPU still works and you're hoping for an increase in performance, replacing the CPU is probably an expensive way to get a small increase in speed - you'd be better off replacing the motherboard or getting a new system.0 -
Indeed. I sold a second hand Athlon X2 4800+ Socket 939 CPU on Ebay not long ago for £120. Cheaper to buy a new motherboard and Athlon II X3 CPU.0
