Buying Train Tickets Online

Comments

  • I'm 26, so the 16-25 railcard I had I can't have anymore!

But if there was another one I could get, I'd be more than happy to hear about it. I'm travelling by train every week nearly!

If youre travelling from Durham, why dont you pick them up from the station at Durham.?

OP says: as by the time I get to Durham on the day of travel I'll already be rushing for the train

Whatever you decide, don't buy from the Trainline.
Last time I checked, they charged a card fee AND a fee to pick your tickets up from FastTicket.
Use https://www.tpexpress.co.uk or https://www.eastcoast.co.uk, who offer the same tickets, same prices without the added fees.

Don't TransPennine allow you to print off at home? (I use them to Manchester Airport and normally print them rather than collect or post).
  • I just selected the option to collect at the station, and I have a free half an hour waiting on a bus in the morning. So a Burger King and collecting the tickets at the station will do for me!
It's super though, before tonight I didn't even realise I could save money buying the tickets a few days before travel. So I'm happy enough. And I did book using Transpennine's website so I saved on any booking fees too.

Want to save a bit on the in-station Burger King?

    Register for a Bite Card.

20% off food and drink at most main stations (including Newcastle and Leeds) - includes Burger King, Upper Crust, Costa, Real Pubs, Millies Cookies and more!
