I'm going to sell mine but if anyone is interested, it's £60 plus postage, includes the monitor, orignal box, manual, unopened box of 20 sticks and 10 additional sticks and 3 pregnancy tests unbranded.0

Sorry, don't mean to sound rude, but that is really wrong to come on here telling women if they don't get a dip that they aren't going to ovulate.
The dip has nothing to do with it. You MUST have a thermal shift and remains high. I KNOW I have ovulated because every month I charted, I had the signs as well as my thermal shift.
You can read on fertility friend and probably tcoyf and both will state that only some women are lucky enough to get a pre O temp dip. I have yet to see anywhere where it says you MUST have a temp dip to ovulate.
Again, I apologize but I don't want someone whos been trying to conceive and look at their chart and panic because they didn't get a temp dip and then go running to their GP to get answers.
The average women does ovulate every month but perhaps there is one month a year when you may be annovulatory. I wouldn't have been pregnant 6 times (2 losses) according to your data because I don't dip.
as far as I am aware I did not TELL anyone that if they did not dip they weren't going to ovulate
the PERHAPS at the start of my post indicated it was a question as did the use of a question mark
can you provide a link that states "the average woman does ovulate every month" ?
surely the fact that women here are discussing the use of fertility monitors would suggest that none of the women are average becuase they have obviously encountered some form of delay or difficulty in becoming pregnant otherwise they would be happy to let nature take it's course.
I did qualify my original post by stating that the information was given to me by my GP - nowhere did I state it was a fool proof method of predicting anyones ovulation - simply another tool which MIGHT help women trying to predict their ovulation cycle which is relatively inexpensive and non intrusive as the original op was asking whether or not she should invest her limited spare cash in one of these monitors
obviously I am very odd woman as I don't ovulate every month and
I do get a dip prior to ovulation - however it worked for me after 6 years of trying for a baby with NO success and 3 months on clomid and with a temperature chart a positive pregnancy test was a very welcome sight.
I bow to your much greater knowledge on this topic and leave the discussion

I had this whole post typed out in defense but it's not worth it. I'm not that type of person.
We could go back and forth on this all day and I really don't have the energy...most importantly, I am really happy you got pregnant. Excuse my preggo brain but are you pregnant now? If so when are you due0 -
They aren't cheap nor are the sticks, but do try ebay (you should be able to get one for around £50) on there.
I got my BFP in the 3rd month of use after trying without one for nine months - so obviously I'm an advocate of them.
They are also very simple to use compared to other monitoring methods.
Furthermore, I managed to sell mine second-hand on ebay, so recovered a lot of the initial outlay of its purchase. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Would recommend.. First time i got pregnant it took two cycles, unfortunalty lost that one. Second attempt took two cycles and was pregnant by the end of the second cycle! Really helped!
Got mine on ebay, best purchase ive ever made!Love my hobby ;-)0 -
I bought one but fell pregnant before i got the chance to use it, i was charting aswell.
Im trying to sell mine but cant seem to! Lol.0 -
I would recommend them.
We started trying in May 2009, at first we just dtd lots and hoped for the best, then after a couple of month I started using internet cheapy ovulation sticks. I got a BFP in September 2009 but unfortunately found out at our 13 week scan that the baby had passed away which was devastating.
After allowing myself a month after the operation I had to have a result of the miscarriage for my cycle to start up again, I started temping and charting and used ovulation sticks to try and pinpoint the right time but was becoming increasingly frustrated that we hadn't got pregnant again. I had seen a number of friends use the CBFM on another forum I go on and fall pregnant pretty quickly after using it so I decided to take the plunge and brought a second hand one off Ebay.
I got my bfp after the 3rd month of using it and in that particular month I ovulated earlier than I thought I would. Had I have just been using the ov tests on their own and charting I am pretty sure we would've missed the good time but because the monitor gave me a peak on an unexpected day we managed to sneak one in and struck lucky.
I am now almost 31 weeks and honestly think that the monitor helped us get where we are. I shall definitely be using it when we try for number 2
Personally I think it is worth a try - I found charting extremely stressful whereas with the CBFM it was one test first thing in the morning and that was it I could foget about it for the rest of the day. They do hold their price quite well and easily resell on Ebay at a good price.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that!
Good luck

It worked for us in 3 months after about 18 months of trying with known fertility issues on both sides. But you haven't been trying for long, your issues aren't related to ovulation, and they are expensive, so in your position I might be inclined to give it a short while longer to see what happens naturally. Good luck whatever you decide though!0

CAn i jst say dont shell out for the clear blue ones, acsess diagnostics (google it) sell them and u can also get early preg tests too sometimes bundled with the ovulation tests.
I was trying for a baby for about 1 year got the tests from this site and got pregnant the first month i used them, i was missing my fertile days but about 4 days every month !
And there soooo cheap on there too xx
My daughter is now 3 x0 -

Thank you all - always good to get comments!Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.-- Mark Twain0
