And did you check you'd got than many coats?!

    Yes and no :D

"Yes" as I was here most of the time doing other stuff - especially choosing and buying paint, anyway - but I didn't watch his every move - no-one likes to work under close supervision and it shouldn't be necessary.

But "no", as I agreed what was to be done, with my decorator at the beginning of each day. I needed to do this as there were other jobs that needed doing, so I had to prioritise as I could only afford to have him for three weeks. He does other property maintenance jobs and one of the things I needed him to do was to build a glass block shower screen. Basically, I had to decide what we could do ourselves, if we had to and anything we were not confident about, we asked him to do.

I must say, he wasn't mad about applying the top coats of emulsion with a brush :rotfl: But that was the finish I wanted and I think he just wanted to be sure that I knew what I would get i.e. brush marks (which I prefer to the "orange peel" finish of a roller).

Anyway, the point is ..... I try to have an honest, frank relationship with all the tradesman I use. I treat them with respect and expect the same from them. I don't want any surprises and they want to be paid a fair rate for a fair day's work.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
