Someone hit me parked car
This morning I parked my car legally in the street alongside my house behind a neighbour's car. I left ample room for them to get out, so I believed, as there was a car parked in front of them). When I went to use my car this afternoon I found that there was substantial damage to the front of the car. A large portion of front bumper had been cracked of (it a Smart car and therefore made of plastic!) and one of the front grilles below the windscreen had been knocked out and was lying in the road. There was no sign of neighbour's vehicle, a Citroen Picasso, although the other vehicle was still there.
The car has not yet returned for me to assess if there is any damage to it and I doubt I will now be able to do this until it is daylight, nor did the driver leave a note.
I now have a dilemma, when the car returns and I can make a note of the registration number do I report it to the police as technically I have no evidence that this vehicle hit me (although it's a very quiet road and highly unlikely that the damage would have been caused by anyone else.)
I also don't know to which house the vehicle belongs and am reluctant to approach the driver directly for fear of confrontation.
What should I do?!
Help

When it returns go and inspect it for signs of collision with your car, photograph the evidence.
Make a claim either on your policy or directly against their insurers which you can get from askmid.
Making a claim could affect your no claims and or premium0 -
The problem is that altough you know who hit your car, you have absolutely no eveidence to support it?
No witness and as yet, no "forensic" on the suspected car.
Could be difficult but there are ways,
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Why not suggest some ways to help the OP with that?0 -
The difficulty could be in not knowing what time the car left, but if you know for a fact it must have been sometime between 1 & 3pm for example. Then after confirming the evidence trace marks on the other vehicle, you might recollect seeing the incident happen from an upstairs window, you were undressed and were unable to immediately go outside, when you finally did they had gone. You can't be sure of the time but it was sometime after 1pm, because you remember switching off the 1 oclock news on TV before going upstairs.0

That's if you know any.
Where do you want to meet up, if you fancy trying it?0 -

Actually I have, but there is is nothing to be said whilst twots like you haunt the forum, my advice to the op stands, pm me. My advice to you genie, is as follows. In defferering order of prefference;
Please state why you are here?????????????????
I'll give you an option or two;
To help and advise less informed individuals?. Sorry Impossible.
To ask for advice?:T:T:T?? Nah.
But I'm here when you need it chap;
To offer informed and accurate info to posters, ooop's sorry wrong again.
So the negatives;
To critisice and harrang any genuine mser's here?, you get a tick for that,
But there is a real problem here.
Any newcomer will look at the last few weeks posts. and condider the main poster the expert.
So sad, genie has about 3 million posts in Dec 10 alone, he must be considered GOD............:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
