Why do Natwest now insist of seeing your passport before changing your address now? Answering personal questions isn't enough, they want to see your passport.

Glad to know Natwest are protecting my security and identity!0

utility bill, statements, photocopy of passport (with immigration), drivers lisence, none were accepted after a half hour wait0

Unfortunately it is the times we live in. Identity fraud is a major crime,I would be happy that they were protecting my interests.0

Natwest are a pain! I relatively frequently have to make transfers to my account to Spain, with First Direct & Woolwich I have in the past done it by phone in 5 minutes, but with Natwest I have to go into the bank, fill in a form, have my Driver's Licence & Bank Card (as it is around £1000), then they proceed to ask me questions about the account (if the Driver's Licence & Bank Card aren't enough why insist I bring them?).0

Easily forgable
Photocard with correct address or just a paper one?
M.
Drivers Lisence - Card one. No paper one is issued in Canada.
Passport - Photocopy matched the passport they had on file.
Took in credit cards, natwest cash cards too.
If all of this is no good, what is acceptable as 2 pieces of id?
Either way, I spoke to my private banking advisor and he had a word with the branch and profusely apologised.
I remember I opened an account once and they insisted the car was sent to the branch. 5 switch cards later and it still hadnt arrived. Finally after 4 months, they realised they had been filing them under M for Miss.0 -

Sorry I thought this was a rant, not a thread designed to display egotism :rotfl:0 -
At the last bank I worked in, we had a policy of requesting either a passport or photo driving licence before changing an address. One day, one of my colleagues in another branch decided to "help" a customer who'd "forgotten" his ID by changing his address after asking security questions.
Very helpful - the customer didn't think so though when he found out a fraudster had changed the address on his account and then managed to spend over £50,000.
That's why they need ID.Amazon sellers club - member number 63.
January challange - sell 10 items. 0 down, 10 to go!0 -
My passport ran out last year and I have no need to replace it as I won't be going on a foreign holiday any time soon.
Why is it assumed that everyone has a passport and a driving licence.0
