Buying a dehumidifier

Hello
I thought someone in this forum might be able to give me advice on buying a dehudifier. I am in a one bedroom flat. I want to use it to help dry clothes and stop condensation and damp. I know I could open the windows more but it's winter and very cold outside and as I'm ground floor I can't leave them open when I'm out. I don't want to spend more than £100. I want reliability, fairly quiet and efficient. Have had a quick look online but there are so many to choose from I would appreciate recommendations.
Thanks

I bought one from B&Q. Its got a carry handle so you can move it to which ever room you need to use it in at the time. Its not that heavy and when the bucket is full its very easy to empty. I think it was around £75 to £80. Ive had it 3years and am pleased with it. I did think of a larger one (as you dont have to empty that out as often) but i wanted portability. Its Model No. BQWDH-610HA. It removes 10litres of moisture, weighs 11.5kg, has a handle and control panel.0

I bought one of the B&Q ones this afternoon. It's for drying out the car and van as they have more ice inside than out in this weather. I've put it on and will leave it a couple of hours before I check it.
It was priced as £114 at my local B&Q but £79.98 online. It went through at £79.98 so best to check first.
As mentioned above it will collect up to 10 litres a day, some of the smaller ones manage only 250ml which seems very low. This model can be connected to a small hose if you don't want to empty it every now and again.0 -
It is cheap because it is only rated at 400ml a day which is about as much use as a chocolate teapot !

I can recommend Ebac . Mine has performed extremely well for the last three winters.
Cost about £165 as far as I can recall.
The sticker attached to it says that it can cope with humidity issues in up to a five bedroom house. I believe that claim.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
Delonghi model are quite good at this price range. Check out reviews on Amazon and the like

When purchasing a dehumidifier you need to consider the temperature of the environment in which you will be using it. If common temps will be below 10C i.e. unheated sparerooms then you would be better off with a desiccant type as they collect more moisture at low temps. I changed from a compressor type to a desiccant one and I couldn't believe how much more effective it was at all temperatures.0

Thanks for all your replies.
How do I know if a dehumidifier is dessicant or compressor as there isn't a lot of product information in online shops.
I have 3 here that I've had a quick look at. Can you tell me what you think? I only have a 1 bed flat so I think a compact one should be sufficient and I can move it around if needs be.

I can reccommend Dimplex. Absolutely brilliant. It extracted over 30 litres in less than 24 hours and made a huge difference.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
