Vaillant ecotec pro 28 cost quote??? HELP

Hello

I need to replace my old boiler (13 yrs old Pott. Puma 80) as only the heating works and the hot water is cold.
Can someone please let me know if the following quote is correct from British Gas for a Vaillant ecotec pro 28 or am I being overcharged???

Thank you in advance for your kind and considerate help and assistance.

Vaillant ecotec pro 28 boiler £861.91
Horizontal flue terminal £240.55
Internal condensate connection £80.96
(should I be charged for this part??)
Boiler replacement installation £789.56
(install same place as old boiler)
Connect boiler electrics & test £162
Install boiler filling loop £23.80
Install copper gas pipe(22mmx3m) £62.54
Minor building work(plaster) £88.68
Disposal of boiler £42
Powerflush £344
Magnabooster 2 spirotec £239

COST approx £2935

less warmfront discount £300
Free 2yr homecare200
(I think I'm being charged for
this somewhere in the quote???).

Overall Cost approx £2635

Many thanks
Regards

A basic combi swap as it sounds as if yours is, should be around £2k all in, especially with this basic boiler.

Get a recommended local RGI to quote.
  • Thats about £1000 too much, beware British Gas and their overpriced quotes plus the "money off voucher" the engineers conviently offer.
Are you sure the old one cant be repaired to get through one more winter?,might only be a diverter valve.Get someone local and trusted in.
  • £240 for a horizontal flue, they are £50! Thats a mistake :-/
In manchester you would pay £2000 max including VAT and a 5 year warranty and fixed price services for the duration of the warranty.
London might be different from up here but that is a rip off. Can Warm Front give you a list of other engineering companies that you can spend the voucher with with?
Are they not fitting a thermostat and a programmer?

Your advice is really appreciated, heartwarming to know there are some genuinely helpful people out there.:)
As regards to my boiler the situation is as follows:

18 months ago I had a new pump fitted in my Pott. Puma 80 boiler by British Gas (hot water & heating worked fine during this period), this pump lasted about 18 months hence just recently we had another new pump fitted by British Gas. The BG engineer was impressed that the boiler had very very low CO levels (8 parts to 2 Million) while doing his tests, however he concluded the new pump installed will only provide heating and slightly luke warm tap water (it may even go cold). I did mention to him could it be the diverter valve?
However he responded and said its not, there is a blockage in your boiler and it could be in any part of the boiler. You will need a powerflush and a new boiler.

At present the heating is working perfectly fine (the burners always light up properly for heating). But the hot tap water is cold and on the odd occasion its slightly lukewarm for a very short period. Sometimes when I turn on the hot tap the burners in the boiler turn alight as they should do but on other occasions the burners do not turn on with the hot tap (pilot light remains on as it should do). The pressure gauge (black dial/needle) also goes down to zero on a regular basis slowly during the day and I have to top it up nearly everyday. The low pressure red light on the boiler has not come on.

I thought it was the diverter valve (as discussions on the internet say this is a common fault). However I'm afraid I'm not an expert on boilers although I have some basic general knowledge. The British Gas Salesman did say we will get a thermostat for the boiler and that we can use our old programmer, although he did mention that we can upgrade to a new programmer at further cost. As for the warmfront voucher he said this voucher is available through British Gas for a limited time period, they maybe taken up very quickly.

In reference to the cost of certain material/parts I had a feeling the prices for some items were excessive e.g one 3m copper pipe at £63, Magnabooster2 should be about £75??, yes the flue did seem really expensive to me.

    My best regards

Can't remember right now, but the puma, I think may be a combi that has the wax capsule in it to operate the dv or similar.

If it is, these are prone to fail and a pig to change and the BG bloke possible couldn't be bothered!

    Minor building work(plaster) £88.68

If the minor plaster work is re skimming a wall, then this is about right!!

I would say this quote is about £1000 high and i definately dont like the "approx" bit.
