Learner Driver

Just a quick question for which i have looked for the answer on the net and not found.

A friend has asked me to take her child out for some driving experience, they are on the insurance/have l plates/prov / i have a clean full license for 19 years but do i need to be on the insurance of the car? its their car and the driver is on it?

    You may have driving other vehicle cover on your own policy.Anything you do in the passenger seat is regarded as if you were driving so no cracking open a can of Skol super or nodding off ;).

    To supervise no.
    However you need to check that the insurance for the learner covers you as an un-named superviser to take over if required, and move the car to a safe place.
    (if they mess up the hill start, or jam it sidewards across the road doing a three point turn for example)
    If not does your policy give you third party cover, so long as you agree it's at the owners risk.
