Tax Credits & Self Employed

My husband has been offered a job part time, 16 hours a week on a self employed basis. He'll be getting paid minimum wage so £94.88 a week, I understand he'll be entitled to working tax credit but I am unsure how it all works, he won't receive a P60 if he is self employed will he so how would be change from an estimated income to an actual income when needed? He has been self employed before but we never knew he was entitled to working tax so never applied for it :( If anyone could help that would be great. Also is there anything else I would have to do except contact housing and council tax benefit (although turn2us states we are still entitled to full both)

Are you sure this is a self employed position ? Its just that the way in which you describe it makes it sound more like he is going to be working for someone else as an employee ?

If he is genuinly self employed , dealing with tax credits is simple enough . It is just a matter of contacting the helpline and telling them as accurately as possible what you believe his profit from self employment is . If he incurs any expenses which are wholly related to his self employment then these amounts can be deducted from his earnings.

Come April time or shortly after , when it is time to fill in your yearly declaration for tax credits you will then provide them with an accurate figure of what your Husbands earnings were.

Dont forget your Husband will need to register with HMRC that he is now self employed .
The loopy one has gone :j

Yes it is a self employed position because he isn't guaranteed the 16 hours each week which he would have to be given if he was properly employed, it's all so confusing lol!

Thank you very much for replying, I do really appreciate all the help given. xx

Sounds like a fiddle to me, thats not a self employed job, thats an employer not wanting to have employees.

A fiddle of what though? I don't understand, do you mean to get out of him not having to give my husband a contract etc?
