I know people get awarded dla indefinatley but what other lengths of time do people get? Can it be awarded for as little as 6 months. Mine is to run for 5 years.

I've had a year, 3 years and indefinite.

Awards my clients have had range from 6 months to 5 years in 6 month jumps.

I've mostly had 2/3/4 year periods. My current is for 2 years. Been on it for a total of 18 years.
  • it should be remembered that"indefinite"only means they cant review within the first 12 months, after that they can review anytime they chose

I dont get DLA myself but my Father does.

I hear that people over the age of 65 wont be reassesed when the new rules come out.

Has any one else heard this ?

I've heard that they are still deciding on what to do with over 65s and under 16s.

It must be hard to decide what way to handle this because i would imagine there are just as many fraudulant claims in these age groups as in others.

I mean there has to be some parents out there who tend to exagerate their childs illness just to get DLA . Just as there may be some over 65's who do the same thing.

Stressful as it may be for the genuine claimants, im wondering is the easiest solution to reasses all claimants when the new rules come in .

That way people who deserve the benefit receive it and those that dont dont !
