Hi everyone. I've had too many problems with my computer over the past 2 years with virus and firewall wrecking my computer. AlienRik and Browntoa have rescued me each time. I now would finally like to take on board all the advice given and have a page to guide me what to do about getting the right antivirus and firewall software to put onto my machine after it getting more Trojans recently. An easy explanation of what to do would be much appreciated. I will take on board what is advised this time and keep at the advice instead of stopping after 2 weeks as I usually do.

If you have been having problems over the last two years and recently with virus/malware on your current operating system maybe the way to go is to format and reinstall, at least you will be starting with a fresh clean system.0

+1 for avast (free)
I use the free version of zone alarm for my firewall.
I would also ditch internet explorer and use chrome.
You could ditch windows altogether and install Ubuntu as an operating system, which is free0 -
Id use Avira, comodo and malwarebytes (all free)
Id also use firefox with the noscript plugin or a sandboxie:idea:0 -
