Anyone tried this for scars? Does it have to be used on 'fresh' scars or is it effective as well on older scars? My 15 year old daughter has scars on her face from being bitten by a dog when she was 2.
Please God, help me stop spending!

Do you think this would help with chicken pox scars?

Home Bargains do their own version of this which is brilliant and almost identical to Bio Oil. Its about £2 a small bottle and probably worth trying before you splash out on the full price Bio Oil. I tried the full price stuff and it had no effect, either on my scars or the skin discolouration I had.

Incidentally, Home Bargains also have proper Bio Oil from time to time at a lot less than everywhere else.
  • poundland used to sell it at (surprise, surprise) £1 a bottle, don't know if they still do?

Hi I started using this over a year after I had surgery on a skin graft scar half my leg length and stomach. i had been using body shop butter up till that point but still found they got tight and achey at times. A friend recommended this and I wish had had started using sooner as they are much better now.
From reviews on the product I think it would be worth a go for your Daughter.

Wow, what a bargain....magic oil at only £50 per litre, as opposed to Boots @ £100 per litre.

It works no better than olive oil....available for £4 a litre.

People need to stop believing in quackery.

When I needed some after an operation on my jaw i looked at the ingredients of the bio oil and the ingredients on the Home Bargains oil and they were both the same. The HB oil is as good as the bio oil IMHO

    It doesn't work.

    Try olive oil.

Don't believe all the hype on the web, it doesn't work.

I use sunflower oil, with a touch of rice bran oil(vitamin E, dead cheap in supermarkets), and with a touch of essential oils, myrrh, lavender, peppermint. Costs a TON less, and I can slather it all over, with it being so cheap.
  • Bio Oil is available on nhs prescription.

I had a biopsy done on my chest (upper cleavage area) and I have a scar that was very red, raised, hard & very tight/painful my G.P. prescribed it for me and its definitely made a difference. I do pay for my prescriptions but this was a lot cheaper than the regular actual cost of bio-oil,.
