I have an iphone 4 and want to transfer some tracks from iTunes on my windows PC. Thought this would be straightforward, but when I plug iphone into iTunes on vista PC - no summary tab comes up and there is no device icon to click on within the left hand pane???

When I plug same iphone into my macbook iTunes it comes up within the left hand pane under devices as expected?

Anyone have any idea how to solve this please? I've had a good look around iTunes to see if there is a setting anywhere I can change to make the device appear but to no avail!!
The tracks I want are only on the windows PC not macbook so I'm stuck until I can work a out a way to get them onto iphone.

If you have set your iPhone to automatically sync on your MacBook, change it to manually sync - it's the only way (using iTunes) to allow you to manage your iPhone with 2 different computers.

Then connect your iPhone to your PC and see if it gets recognised. You may wish to reinstall iTunes on your PC if it still is not recognised. Alternatively, you may wish to try other pieces of software, but I'm not clued up on recent good PC alternatives.

I have very little experience with iTunes on the PC, but I hope it helps a little.
  • If all else fails with the above - download sharepod on yoru PC then you can transfer the files without the need of itunes on both.

Scrilla - I'm just popping out to the shops, but will give that a try as soon as I get back. It sounds solid advise......I won't be surprised if what you say actually works, Thank you for taking the time to reply, I'll let you know buddy.
