B&Q Cooke & Lewis Duchess Bath sale

I'm thinking of buying this bath with 65% discount before the sale ends on monday. Has anyone else bought one of these or know anyone who has? I'm struggling to find any reviews online. We want to use it also as a stand up shower, i called B&Q yesterday who put me in touch with the manufacturer and they claim it will be strong enough and they have never had any problems

Is it the corner one or the freestanding one?
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • it's the freestanding back to the wall one - 2 tap holes

If you plan to stand in it depending on the thickness they can crack.

    I can smell something!

Although I am an advocate of steel baths, acrylic baths are not prone to cracking. In fact I have never come across an acrylic bath that has cracked.

If thay are not designed to stand in, how are people supposed to get in them? Slither in like a snake? Hauled in by winch?

    Agreed..;)
  • LOL this is the exact same arguement i have been having with my husband for months!! We currently have a 1930's cast iron bath, in the original bathroom, it's too knackered tho, the bath is badly worn and dented and is one of those ones that are boxed in, the tiles all cracked and broken, needs a total overhaul. I'd really like to get a traditional look freestanding bath with feet, it has to work as a shower though as we don't have room for a seperate shower and cast iron freestanding baths are just way out of our price range. My husband has agreed to try an acrylic one, i just want to make sure i invest in one that will last and that these 65% offers from B&Q are actually for good quality goods and not rubbish which has been overinflated in price in the first place!! The duchess bath i'm looking at is guaranteed for 25yrs so I guess this is a good enough guarantee do you think?

I am sure that it will be fine, just make sure that it is installed correctly, my old acrylic bath had been in situ for about 20 years, guess what, it didn't crack. ;)
