Where thers blame

Wonder if anyone has had any experiences with compo chasing firms ie injury lawers for you or the like.My son has recently had some maniac with the red mist run into the back of his vehicle at a set of traffic lights, his car only a modest corsa is almost certainly a write off, thankfully he has survived the ordeal with injuries described by hospital as whiplash. He is comprehensive insured but really dont know if motor insurance companies are interested in the personal injury side of road traffic crashes.

I used them to claim back the costs of lost earnings (self employed so don't get sick pay!) and a private physio bill when a car ran into the back of mine last year and injured me. The man who handled the claim was lovely and I can't fault them.
Here I go again on my own....
  • Thanks for that can you tell me did you use both them and your own motor insurance company

I had a legal assistance policy with my motor insurance. They sorted the car repairs (eventually - long story, never again!). Their injury solicitor was useless and never returned my calls, so I never bothered and employed the company above instead.

Your own insurer will only get involved in personal injury claims if you have legal expenses insurance and then they will pass it to a panel solicitor. You cannot use two different companies anyway for the same claim. Your son's insurer will however deal with your vehicle claim as a separate matter from the PI claim but your son could actually do that bit himself anyway. After my accident I negotiated directly with the third party insurer and they settled their claim direct to me and my insurers did not get involved at all.

After all the problems I am having with my legal expenses panel solicitors, I would strongly recommend you consider the firm that Becles has recommended. This is usually the best way to find someone to act for you.
