My boiler woes

Took Gritish Bass up on a boiler deal to get our knackered old boiler replaced. They said it would cost £1898 and be done in a day. So on wednesday, I took a day off work to stop at home to take delivery of the boiler so it was there to be fitted by the nice man on Thursday. It never turned up. This annoyed me as it was.
Then yesterday, the nice man came, having been told about this, and went and found the boiler and bought it to us. Apparently it "wasn't put on the computer properly" or some such gubbins. He then fitted it (the wife was home sick so no one had to take time off) and by the time I got home at 7pm he was gone, after telling wifey dearest that it was all working fine, he'd be back today to finish off, we could use the hot water/heating. The house was freezing, the fused switch on the boiler has the fuse holder hanging out and a sign on it saying "danger, do not touch", and the water won't go hot. There's no pilot light on, the boiler doesn't ignite (not that i expected it to without a fuse), and we've got our very own two bed terraced walk in freezer.
Now we've got a two year old child with no other heating in her bedroom, my wife is 6 months pregnant (and slightly emotionally frail as a result), and no hot water or heating. To me, that seems poor customer service to be left in that situation. Luckily the in-laws live not far away so we managed to doss in their lounge. But it's really peed me off. Anyone think there's any chance of getting them to knock some money off by way of compensation? If not, can I do anything else?
