I tried to haggle a bed cheaper and the manager didnt budge.
She said my only option would be to take out a store card to save 10%, and that I could simply pay the bed off in full the very next month then cancel the card.
Is this true? Ive always been very wary of store cards!

It's true. You can do that.
Edit
Can't find any reference to a 10% discount when using the card, however.
It looks as though they currently offer vouchers. You can get more details from the Homebase website.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

If you've got the money to pay it off and you have a good enough credit rating to get the card, then it's pretty much a win win situation.
The only slight downsides.
1/ You will have opened a credit account, which means if you want to get other credit in the short term it might affect it, if you have too many searches in a short space of time for instance
2/ If you get say a high limit like £2000, it could also mean that you have a lot of credit available to you, compared to your annual income at least again in the short term.
I did what Homebase are suggesting, but with a Debenhams card so I could save about £25 off the order and haven't used the card since.0 -
I was happily using my homebase card and decided to order some furniture.
They girl at my local store rang through the incorrect purchse price despite me pointing this out !
She then couldnt order the furniture due to her mistake.
I then ended up getting a statement for £379 credit thinking this was a mistake I asked in store and customer services and they couldnt see a problem.
I purchased about £30 worth of goods.
As I was still unsure of this credit I avoided spening anymore and spoke to customer services to double check.
I was right I owed them £498 the credit was a mistake needless to say I have taken back anything I have with the homebase name on much to thier dismay.
Im renovating my house so this a big loss on thier behalf.0
