Cooker in a rented property.

Just a quick question, more just so I know really.
When we moved into this rented property, Gas Oven was provided, Tenancy Agreement says house is unfurnished.
The gas oven - according to the corgi fella who came round today should be writtenoff ( 2 hobs dont work & the glass lid doesnt shut off the glass when closed, the latter was a issue from before we moved in ) but has given us 3 weeks to get a new one, ( and he'll fit it for cost
)
Oven wasnt new, but continued use from previous tennant, I believe the LL originally bought it.
My question is, who is responsible for buying the new cooker. We are currently looking, but was just wondering if legally the LL should replace it.

Im pretty sure it is the landlord's responsibility as it is something that they provided you with. Although Im sure someone else will be able to confirm. When my cooker broke my landlord bought us a new one.....MFW 2020 #111 Offset Balance £69,394.80/ £69,595.11

He didnt give us any paper, just he'd turn a blind eye, and come back when we have got the new oven.
I know.. he doesnt sound strictly legit, but its the LL who contacts him to do the annual gas safety thing, and she says he's the only one in Northampton who still deals with warm air heating.
In our last property, the LL replaced the oven when it died also, I just dont know if its a legal thing, or a given.0 -
Check whether this guy is listed with the Gas Safe Register. (google it)
LL has strict responsibilities where gas safety is concerned.
Is the gas cooker listed on any inventory from the LL?0 -

I don't think a cooker will always be fitted with an automatic shut-off for the lid, when I had my second-hand cooker installed the engineer tested it and then looked at the back and realised it didn't have one. If it is fitted with one though it might need to be in working order. Likewise possibly the burners might need to be working. If it is very old then it might be good to replace it, but cookers are easy to repair and parts easy to get.0 -

I wasnt aware of that g_attrill, however the gas bloke said that it should have had one, so no clue really.0 -
In our last home, one of the rings on the gas hob wasn't working and the gas safety guy still passed it with a gas certificate. He said they can advise the LL that the work needed doing but couldn't enforce it. I was shocked by this and as the LL wouldn't fix it (amongst other faults) we moved.0
