Booking hotel thru agent (daft question)

I booked a hotel room (thru Lastminute) last week and have paid them in full. Question is - when should the hotel receive my details. I ask as the price quoted was excellent and I dont want an email cancelling a week before I am due to travel. Would the agent have confirmed details to the hotelier by now? My booking was for May.

Hi
I normaly find that most companies like Lastminute inform the hotel a few days before the room they have is required. I have booked many times through TUI and then I email the hotel about 10 days prior to my departure, to date I have not had any problems and Lastminute are not a "fly by night" company so I would not worry

Diane60, it can vary from hotel to hotel. Like London says, some hotels only get the room listings about 7-10 days before, however with Tui their situation is different. Tui normally have an 'allocation' of rooms at hotels months in advance, however only advise the hotel of the names of the people in them rooms 7-10 days before.
one of the main hotel booking companies we use (Superbreak) fax or e-mail the booking to the hotel within minutes of the booking being made with them, therefore the hotel should have the reservation in it's system within the hour (depending on how quick the hotel is to update their systems), and this applies if you book 1 week in advance or 1 year in advance.
If it puts your mind at ease, try contacting your hotel now, and see what they say. if for any reason they do not have your reservation in their systen, just contact Lowcost Holidays and ask why. It may be a taht at that particular hotel they have an allocation - however just a bit of advice here and contact by e-mail in the hope that they e-mail you back. you then have written evidence should you need it.

Thanks for you replies. The price paid did seem too good to be true. (Around 60% of the normal room price) Think I will e-mail the hotel direct to confirm. Maybe it was just a post Xmas offer! The price has now gone back to normal on Lastminute site.0

As you are not travelling until May it is highly unlikely that the hotel will have had your booking details yet. I work for an accommodation only company and we send our bookings through to hotels between 4 and 14 days prior to clients arriving. Our agents can ask us to release the clients names early to the hotel, you could try asking Lastminute to do the same:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

I work on Front Desk in a hotel and we get the bookings faxed and emailed within a couple of minutes booking from Last Minute.
