Travelodge - only double/twin rooms but have 3yo and baby

We were hoping to stay at the new sheffield meadow hall travelodge whilst visiting family
We have a 3year old and a 5 month old and usually get a family room with the settee bed thing for the big one and would put the baby in a travel cot.
Well they don't have any family rooms!!!
What do you think our options are? Don't really want to have to get 2 rooms as it was be expensice as we are staying 3 nights.

If the rooms do not exist, what do you expect people to say?

Are there no other suitable hotels in the area?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • as in should we just book a double? do other ppeople know the area and could recommend elsewhere? etc
  • Hi, double rooms and family rooms are the same in travelodge, it's just the amount of bedding they set it out with that makes the difference. Book one room turn up then go to reception after you have checked in and been to the room. Tell them you are short of bedding and they will give you more.

If there are four of you, you cannot book a room for two.

Do you need to be near Meadowhall or Sheffield?

They are not at Meadowhall. This is a hotel that they have bought from Purple Hotels - there are no extra beds in the room.

As above, the double rooms in many of the hotels are quite small and without a sofabed so will be of no use to the OP.
  • relatives live in Brinsworth, rotherham but easy access from meadowhall and thought there'd be plenty of places to eat out etc nearby if we stayed there

There are, and it is a nice hotel (arguably the best Travelodge), but you will not get in one room. There is an Etap nearby, but I would not stay in it.

  • aha i have found a premier inn in wickersley (where hubby was born!!) for under £100 for the 3 nights. think that may be our option. thanks everyone

No no no! Not true! It may have been true in the past when all the hotels were identical but travelodge have since bought other hotels, converted office buildings etc, which means that if it says 'Double' chances are that's just what it is, i.e. a double bed and maybe a chair and that's all!

The only way to be sure of getting a sofa is to book a family room, which you can do with just 1/2 adults anyway so it's not a problem (unlike Premier Inn who make this process difficult)

As said above the one at Meadowhall has been bought from another chain so they don't have sofa-beds. I don't think they have baths either - and they don't tell you that on the website!
