Hi,
I am installing some network cable in a house we are renovating and I have gone future proof with cat 7. I will only be running gigabit over it at the moment but want to properly ground the sheilding.
There doesn't seem to be much information availiable. Is this the same as running to to earth? e.g. can I just run the drain wire to the metal back box where the face plates are installed?
Cheers Dave

I may just be showing my ignorance, but isn't the grounding done automatically at the switch (presuming you have an {8 or 16 or 24 or 32}-port switch)?0

The shielding is used to funnily enough shield the twisted pairs from interference as the shield is not connected to the connector at either end.0

I understand that the sheild is used to screen the cables but I understand that this should be grounded in some way so the back box of the two port face plate. This is to drain the sheild.0

Think this might answer my question. Cheers D http://www.siemon.com/uk/white_papers/06-07-20-grounding.asp0
