Hey don't know if this will help but this is how I make my very occasional hot choc drink
I dont go near cocoa powder or hot chocolate, I use 70% cocoa solid choc chips (sent to me from a friend in Edinburgh which has a fabulous chocolatier (sp?) fancy choclit shop). With those I either make choc espresso - melted choc chips in warmed through single cream - YUM! - or whisked into mug hot milk/single cream combo - YUMMMMMM! If you use good chocolate you get an intense chocolately hit which means normal hot choc leaves you a bit meh afterwards
however these are a very rare occurance because they must have like a billion calories eachComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

http://www.charbonnel.co.uk/#1X0 Have you seen the tins of Charbonnel et Walker chocolate ? Waitrose have them. Its basically powdered chocolate and you just add hot milk (or eat it with a spoon from the tin:o ). It 'aint cheap though:rolleyes:0

I feel like you about hot chocolate, by the time you get enough Cadbury's or whatever in the milk to make it even remotely chocolatey enough, it's far too sweet, so I never drink the stuff
anyway, I took my daughter (big hot choc fan) there while on a day trip to Edinburgh & the hot chocolate was fabulous, well worth the £5 for a Chocolat Mozart, with brandy & real Creme Chantilly

also recipe that looks like the real deal HERE, although I've not tried it out yet0 -
1/4 cup water
2 bsp cocoa
2 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- can add whipped cream to garnish and sprinkle with chocolate shavings!!!!
Mix water, cocoa and sugar and microwave for 30 seconds, this should make a syrup. Add milk, and microwave for a futher 1 - 2 minutes.
Add vanilla, stir, then serve (adding whipped cream if using)0 -
!!! above, but alos put a teaspoon of chocolate power at the bottom of a latte cup, looks really good and makes you think that you paid a couple of quid in a cafe for it!0

When I worked for Cineworld, we had a Haagen Daaz counter (YUUUUUM!) and we made hot choclate like this:
two scoops of chocolate ice cream, topped up in a milkshake glass, then frothed up with the cappachino frother (this heats it up too!) and pured into a cup. Yum yum yuuuuuuuuuuum! I've never had better hot choccies, though its not eay to recreate without a cappuchine machine :rotfl:0 -
I try to steer clear of hot choc because of the calories - I would rather use them up on wine! However, I am always making it for my DS and his friends. I either use the Green & Black's Organic with hot milk (about £3 but lasts a while), no extra sugar needed. If I'm feeling generous then I use the Gu mini puddings (£1.49 for 3) which you can either eat as a little chocolate pot or you can add it to hot milk for a delicious hot chocolate.0

That's the one!!!! It is a fabulous shop, isn't it? Their choc espressos are to die for. Mind you, I drew the line at paying a fiver for a piece of cake, mainly because I couldn't decide which one to getComps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Wow, my hot chocolates consist of a scoop of cadbury's in some warm milk. Yours ALL sound amazing.
Swan, do you mind me asking, I have been looking for ages for a decent box of chocolates for my grandad who is turning 90. Do the chocolates from your shop mentioned really look like the ones in the photo, they look like mini works of art and I know he and my sweet toothed Grandma would really appreciate them but especially so if they came looking as they do?
