BT - end of contract query?
Hoopylass
Im coming up to the end of my 18mth contract on BT and I want to move my line rental to sky, as I am sick of having to make x amount of calls per month as per current BT contract.
I remember someone posting a link on here about how to find out the exact date your contract ends as I do not want BT to automatically renew the line rental.
How soon should I apply to sky for my line rental and calls as I dont want to have to pay 2 bills obviously.
Thanks guys,
Also ive just been on the sky website and it seems that I would need to pay £60 installation fee for my phone and broadband package?? Why??? I already have sky tv installed, what exactly would the £60 fee be for? and is there anyway of not paying as much?

The ten calls per month requirement ceases at the end of the 18 months.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

The date your minimum term commitment ends will align with your billing date. so call CS on 150 and ask them! Your contract doesn't end on that date, and won;t be automatically renewed UNLESS you've signed up for free Evening & Weekends, if you have then you need to advise them you only wish the free Weekend package, and this prevents the minimum term restarting. After that, you can leave on 30 days notice.
As for Sky, their charge is nothing to do with your satellite installation - but a contribution to the fee they pay to BT ro switch your line to them for LLU (you might recall, it is still BT's property!).0 -

Thanks for your post... I was referring to a page on BT's website that allows you to check your termination date. Much easier than sitting on hold and then speaking to someone who doesnt have a clue (speaking from previous experience here!)
I want to move to sky as it would be easier to have 1 bill as opposed to 2...and BT seem hell bent on charging me £15 per month minimum as opposed to line rental only.
So there is no way of sky waiving the £60? lolTotal DebtWas £4145.81now £0.000 -

Moving your existing BT landline number from BT to Sky does not normally incur a £60 connection fee.
Note however If you move to SKY LLU from BT you want be able to use indirect access codes like 18185 for cheaper calls, and if you leave SKY your only option will be to move back to BT (12 month Contract).0 -
